The moment you pick this cue up it feels serious. The carbon fiber construction has a different weight and balance than a standard cue — more substantial, more intentional. One caveat before I go further: I haven't actually broken with it yet, but everything about how it feels in hand leaves me very confident that won't be an issue when the time comes.
The build quality is solid throughout. The joint assembles tight with no flex or wobble, and the finish is clean. The wrapless grip was something I was curious about going in — I have sweaty hands, and some grips can get tacky and unpleasant. The carbon fiber surface is smooth and cool, which actually works in its favor. No stickiness, and enough texture to feel secure.
It plays heavier than my regular cue, but not out of balance. The weight distribution feels like it wants to be hit hard, and I think I'll be able to get more force into my break without having to rethink my approach too much.
One honest note: the graphic design looks considerably less cool in person than in the listing photos. Think happy meal lightsaber rather than futuristic precision instrument. It's a minor thing and it doesn't affect how the cue performs, but worth knowing if aesthetics matter to you.
At my skill level and how often I actually get to play, this is firmly a treat-yourself purchase. That said, compared to what's out there in the break cue market it's probably quite reasonable. I'll update this review once I've had a chance to actually break some racks with it.
